Woodies Christmas Ad

I recently scored a commercial with a wonderful director I’ve worked with a few times now, Zak Emerson. This was a Christmas ad for an Irish DIY firm called Woodies. I’m afraid I’d never heard of them before but they’re pretty big over in Ireland, and this was a lovely film made by Rothco which focused on a small and simple act of kindness. It’s gone down amazingly well in Ireland, getting loads of love for its non-materialistic and humane message at a time when so many are struggling.

The campaign even made a few headlines in the UK and despite the brand only being known in Ireland, has been featured on several lists of the best Christmas ads of of 2020, such as this one where it ranked 4th globally ‘according to emotional reaction’!
