Escape from Kabul

It was a privilege to work with Jamie Roberts again on this incredibly powerful 90 min documentary about the sudden end of the Western involvement in Afghanistan in August 2021, and the consequent humanitarian disaster that ensued. Tens of thousands people converged on Kabul airport in the hope of fleeing the country as the Taliban poured into the city to retake power as the Americans departed. It’s an upsetting film to watch but an important story only a small part of which hit the US and Western news channels at the time. As with our last collaboration, Four Hours at the Capitol, this film was produced by Dan Reed and edited by Will Grayling for HBO and BBC.

I hope to find time soon to write more about working on this film and posting a few music clips from the score as well. In the UK it’s still available on iPlayer (the UK version of the film is called ‘Escape from Kabul Airport), so do have a watch when you get a chance.
