BAFTA, RTS & Emmy Nominations

NEWEST NEWS!

Congratulations to Barack Obama for winning the Emmy for Outstanding Narrator for his work on Our Great National Parks, which I had the honour to write the score for.

And I’m very excited to have been nominated for an Emmy myself in the upcoming News and Documentary Emmy Awards for Outstanding Music Composition. The series has five other nominations in various categories.

NEWISH NEWS!

I was very pleased to discover recently that a series I wrote the music for last year, 9/11: One Day in America, won the RTS Award for Best Documentary Series. The series was also nominated for Best Factual Series at this years BAFTAs (congrats to director, Daniel Bogado).

On top of that, Four Hours at the Capitol (which I also scored) got nominated for two BAFTAs too (congrats to Jamie Roberts & Dan Reed)! Very proud to have been a part of both productions, which are well worth some of your time if you haven’t seen them.

SLIGHTLY OLDER NEWS!

I’m pleased to announce that Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty, which broadcast last summer on BBC, has been nominated for a BAFTA in the Specialist Factual category [retrospective spoiler alert: we didn’t win this!].

I was very proud of the series and the music I wrote for it. I secretly like to think that, to some extent, the score’s undercurrent of darkness led to James Murdoch resigning his position on the board of NewsCorp, a few weeks after the series was broadcast!

This was one of several collaborations with 72 Films, who have made some brilliant doc series over the past few years. It was my first time working with the very talented Jamie Roberts.
