I HATE AMERICA


i hate america
home of the word ‘dude’
it’s self-obsessed and ignorant
it’s cocky and it’s crude
i hate america’s power
and how it misapplies it
i hate the way they say you’re jealous
when you criticise it

america is pretty shit
but it’s got some damn fine things in it
though it isn’t where i choose to live
i suppose that i’d get by
i suppose that i’d get by

i hate england
sanctimonious and smug
home of the gutter press
and the football thug
i hate its self-importance
but what really grates
is the way that england thinks
it’s so much better than the states

this country’s pretty shit
but it’s got some lovely things in it
though it isn’t where i’d choose to live
i suppose that i’ll get by
i suppose that i’ll get by
