i fell for you once in the past
it didn’t really work out well
but i got over you at last
at least as far as i could tell
i got my fingers badly burned
while my heart was put on ice
what kind of lesson would i have learned
if i let it happen twice?
so don’t make me fall for you again
i’ve been there got the t-shirt
got the memory of that pain
there’ll be no trip down memory lane
cos i won’t fall

don’t get offended it’s not an insult
or a slight on you
but if i’ve gotta get hurt by someone
i’d rather it was somebody new
we’re playing games and i can’t win
but you should know that i’m
not such a fool as to let you in
to my heart a second time

i’ve got all the souvenirs i need
from that ill-fated campaign
there’ll be no trip down memory lane
