A LIGHT WENT ON


believe it or not
i love you a lot
but somehow i’ve forgotten to show it
the cat got my tongue
i was too highly strung
or perhaps i was too young to know it
so time has gone by
and i just don’t know why
but it seems as though i never told you
my fear and my pride
made me want to hide
how I’d feel inside when i’d hold you
but all that’s going to change now
all that’s going to change

a light went on inside my brain
just for a minute
i saw an empty barren plain
it was a picture of my life
without you in it
that life didn’t interest me
cos next to you is where i want to be

so won’t you please stay
and not walk away?
it’s late in the day but i’m learning
give me one more try
i promise you i
will tell you when my heart is burning
and i am going to change now

and can’t you see that i’ve already changed?
